Victory!!

The Packers beat the Vikings today! Woohoo! Nick and I had a great time watching. Both of the TD passes were in "our" endzone which was pretty sweet. GO PACK GO!!

More Favre Praise

Not sure about the "quaintest franchise in the NFL" part, but here's a Minneapolis columnist writing nice things about my man Favre. On the other hand, I didn't realize pro sports teams had owners until I went away to college (laugh if you must, but I didn't turn diehard until I was homesick freshman year).

More good news: Favre threw his 420th touchdown pass today! At the beginning of the season they were forcasting that he would do it Week 5 against the Bears, but now it looks like it'll happen against the Vikings (who lost today). What fun :)

UNDEAFEATED!!

Green Bay beat San Diego today!!!!! Nick and I listened to the first half in the car as we were driving home from Wisconsin. We got home, put the truck in the garage (the back was filled with bikes, tents, sleeping bags, etc), jumped in the car, and to the bar we went. There was a small tense moment when the Chargers got up by a TD and the Packers couldn't score from their own 1-yard line, but our defense held and we managed to score two touchdowns in the next 64 seconds. Go Pack Go! Final score: Packers 31, Chargers 24. Fantastic start to the season :)

No love, no love, no love

After months of miserable poker playing (not even bad playing, just no luck) I finally started to get back in my groove in the second game; in fact I made it to heads up! I was down about 300 chips but slowly fighting my way back (700 chips total). I got my hand and looked: K-Q offsuit. Not a bad hand for heads up. I went all-in and got called - also a K-Q. This is good, right? We each just get our money back and continue to play? Nope. Flop comes out diamond-diamond-diamond. ARG! He has the K of diamonds. Turn, nothing. River: 2 of diamonds. Someone is still laughing at me but I'm happy just to finally win some money!

2-0, baby!

GREAT start to the season. After getting worried because we saw 3 missed FG in the first quarter (1 Giants, 1 Packers, 1 another game), the Packers came out blazing in the second half and soundly beat the Giants 35-13. Yay! Brett Favre had an awesome game: 3 TD passes and 1 INT that wasn't his fault (it hit Driver in the numbers and bounced straight up and was grabbed). Next week is going to be tough though: it's the Chargers. GO PACK GO!

80s Dance Party!

Last night we went to a wedding in St Paul and had an awesome time! The couple was married in a beautiful church and we all threw birdseed at them as they came out. We got covered in it as well - as soon as it hit the ground there was a gust of wind and the chaff flew up and coated everyone on my side. There was lots of brushing off for the next couple of minutes. The couple got into their rented DeLorien and drove away - how cool is that??

The reception was held on a college campus in a huge room. When they did the wedding slideshow five screens came down for us to watch it on! It was really well done, although both Nick and I were struck by the fact that the groom looked a lot like Adam when he was younger - maybe he is a long-lost relative? I'm also jealous of the groom's ability to take pictures of himself and his new bride; when we do that all we ever get are our faces, not great skylines and details of what's behind us. Maybe he'll post some tips when he gets back from his honeymoon and has a chance to read this.

And then the dancing began. All the lights went down and they had colored lights instead. The DJ did a great job of working up the crowd. Almost every single song they played was from the 80s! It was awesome. We had so much fun out on the floor dancing. It was a great wedding, congratulations to the new couple.

PS There's something about weddings - when we got home I HAD to pull out our wedding DVD and watch that myself. :)

Weekend Goal and GRRR to FOX

The least busy weekend of the month thus far! Tomorrow we are going to a wedding (in town!) and that's it. No other set plans. We had Twins tickets but sold them so that we could watch the Packers and Giants play instead - they play at noon and the Vikings have the late game, so it should be on TV, right? NO! According to the FOX website they are showing paid programming. What's up with that? It doesn't make any sense.

Anyway, since we'll be around for most of the weekend, my goal is to finish the wedding scrapbook. I have two pages left from the reception and four from the honeymoon so it's completely do-able as long as I sit down and do it. I'm putting it on here so you can all harass me and ask if I've finished it or not. Nick will probably be working on the house. I have a couple of goals for him but I'm going to try not to nag ;)

Our New House!

I'm finally home without Nick and it's not raining or dark, so here's a picture of our "new" house! All that's left to do outside are some floodlights in the back, so this is really it for the curb-side appeal. Krista said the pictures don't do it justice and I tend to agree, but it's my best shot.

Home Sweet Home

We did it!

The Packers held on and beat Philly!!! We took Nancy and Jeff to the Fieldhouse after church to eat lunch and watch the first half. (By the way - you get a free beer there if you go during a Vikings game.) We went home at halftime so they could make the longer drive back to their own home, then settled in to flip between the Vikings and Patriots games. Luckily, the Viking game ended early (about quarter to 3) and we got to watch the last eight minutes of the Packer game! We saw them win! I think Lorenzo is good luck.
